Red Velvet Cake

Happy Valentine's day! I hope you all have a great time with your friends/family/boyfriend/girlfriend, and to celebrate this day I wanted to share with you this cake, the red color is simply amazing, perfect for today :) I'm spending my day at an elder's ball (I know it sounds boring but it is actually really cute)

1. Simply pour the batter into a heart shaped pan and bake it for about 45 minutes at 360°F, let is cool completely and make some vanilla frosting.

2. Cover the cake with a thin layer of frosting to seal the crumbs, let is cool in the fridge for about 20 minutes and the cover it with a second layer. Cover the sides with red sugar and decorate the top with a small heart.

Pretty cute right?

Here are some other ideas for Valentine's day:

  10. I always forget that step about the thin layer of frosting and chilling the cake...drives me nuts when crumbs go all over the place. I need to start planning ahead! Happy Valentine's day!
