A year ago I told my mom that for my birthday I wanted a strawberry cake with custard in the middle, strawberry jam and vanilla frosting, well that didn't happen because we made a red velvet cheesecake but since we made this cake she had the idea of making a trifle and it turned out way better than I ever thought I just couldn't stop eating and it was pretty similiar to the cake that I wanted so I was really happy
- 1/2 lemon zest bundt cake
- 1 c. of strawberry jam
- Vanilla Custard
1. Make vanilla custard according to instructions and let it cool for at least 3 hours. Cut the cake into small cubes of about 1 inch and set aside. In a medium bowl add 1/4 c. of jam, add enough cake to cover it and top it with custard, repeat the layers until you reach the top of the bowl.
Decorate with fresh fruit |
This trifle is great because you can use any cake you like or any jam that you want but the lemon zest cake really makes this trifle special because it brings out the flavor of all the other ingredients, enjoy!

Oh my goodness, this looks delicious! I don't think that I could stop eating it either. I have never had a trifle, they seemed weird to me (i don't know why. "trifle" doesn't sound like something to eat, it sounds like a chore or something) but this has converted me. I've got to make one now!
